National vaccination chief resigns - Czech Points

The national coordinator of vaccination against covid-19, Zdeněk Blahuta, resigned due to health reasons. The Ministry of Health announced this on Twitter. Sixty-year-old Blahut will be replaced by Kateřina Baťhová, who has previously worked at the ministry as the Department of International Affairs and the EU director.

“Today, I came to the aid of Dr. Blahut, who, due to his state of health, resigns as the national coordinator for vaccination. I want to thank the doctor for the work done. I entrusted Kateřina Baťhová, said Jan Blatný.

At a press conference after the government meeting, the minister said that the position required extreme commitment. “It’s very burdensome. We agreed that at the moment, it would be difficult for the doctor, even about his health,” said Blatný.

According to him, he discussed the Blissful situation several times. “Precisely because I closely monitor the work of my subordinates, at a time when I feel that for some reason, in this case medical, would not achieve 100% performance, because I would overload the person, so I immediately find someone who can perform. “And I did,” Blatný added.

Blaha became the coordinator last December, so he resigns after less than two months. He was previously the director of the State Institute for Drug Control. He told the daily N that he did not want to comment on his departure. “I will not comment on it, and I am thrilled that it is behind me,” the server quoted the outgoing vaccination coordinator as saying.

“I won’t tell you anything about it, but I’m so glad it’s behind me. You can’t guess from the outside how it will work. They called me and wanted help, but it’s useless, it’s futile, it’s pointless. I have health problems, so that’s all I can say about it, “Blahuta told the iRozhlas.CZ server.

Blaha led a coordination team at the ministry, which should take care of, among other things, logistics, clinical surveillance of vaccines, data collection, and IT and media communication. One of his tasks was also to develop a first draft vaccination strategy. The documentary, which was completed before Christmas, then garnered relatively much criticism. For example, the Ministry of Education and some regions requested an amendment.
