Last week, according to the ministry’s statistics, no one in the country died with covid-19. The last victim was recorded by doctors on July 21.

The reproduction number is kept below 1.0 for 15 days. If it is lower than one, it means that the epidemic is slowing down. In mid-July, it was above 1.4, according to experts, the cause was a more contagious coronavirus mutation delta.

The epidemic situation varies from region to region. The worst situation is in the Pilsen region, where there have been 31 infected people per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days. It is followed by Prague with an incidence of 21 and the Pardubice region with 14 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last week. On the contrary, the Olomouc Region is relatively the best, with three infected per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days.

Laboratories performed approximately 61,000 tests on Sunday, about 8,000 less than a week earlier. In the most numerous category of tests performed – preventive and comprehensive – the share of positive compared to the previous week fell to 0.04 percent from 0.07. In the so-called epidemiological indication of tests, where people are tested, for example, for possible contact with the infected, the proportion of positive increased to 0.32 percent from 0.17. The proportion of confirmed cases in the so-called diagnostic indication, when people with symptoms, for example, are tested, has risen from 0.73 to 0.99 percent.

20,631 people underwent vaccination against covid on Sunday, at least since the beginning of the holidays. Compared to the previous Sunday, it is a decrease of about 6,500 people. Since the start of vaccination, the ministry has registered 10,363,749 vaccinations. 4.86 million people have completed vaccinations.

Since March 1, when the first cases of the disease were confirmed in the country, 1,673,769 people have been shown to be infected with coronavirus according to statistics. Most were cured, 30,374 people with confirmed coronavirus died.
