Czech Republic reports 6,910 new coronavirus cases

The number of new daily cases of coronavirus in the Czech Republic continues to decline in a week-on-week comparison. Laboratories detected 6,910 on Monday, about 750 less than a week ago.

Coronavirus infection now affects less than 100,000 people, most of whom have a mild disease course. 5,852 people were hospitalized in hospitals with covid-19 on Monday, 175 more than on Sunday. However, the number of patients in severe conditions fell by 40 to 992. Another 165 deaths have been added to the statistics since Sunday. According to the daily increase in newly detected cases, the Czech Republic epidemic is slowing down, but hospitals are still very busy caring for hospitalized people with covid-19. Last week, the daily number of deaths from covid-19 began to decline slightly, from below 150 on Tuesday. This year, the highest number of deaths is on January 8, when 188 people died from the infection.

Since the beginning of the epidemic in March, laboratories in the Czech Republic have detected almost 947,000 infected. Over 831,000 of them have already been cured of the disease. Currently, the most affected district is still the Trutnov region, where in the last seven days, they recorded 992 infected per 100,000 inhabitants. The Cheb region follows with 842 cases.

Vaccination is supposed to help fight against coronavirus infection; in the Czech Republic, vaccination against covid-19 has been carried out since last December 27. Healthcare professionals have reported 207,043 vaccinations since the start of the vaccination. On Monday it was about 9,800. According to data on the website of the Ministry of Health, 13,802 people received the second dose.
