There were 3,364 confirmed cases of covid-19 on Sunday in the Czech Republic, which is the highest Sunday value in the last six weekends. One week earlier, less than 2,000 new cases were detected. According to the Ministry of Health, there were 4,398 people with covid in Czech hospitals on Sunday, 588 of them in severe condition. A week earlier, 43 more were hospitalized. Most people with the infection have a mild course of the disease, and about 5.5 percent of those currently infected require hospitalization.

So far, 10,411 people have died in the Czech Republic with a proven covid, 35 of them this Sunday. Since the beginning of December, 1,887 people have died from the new coronavirus.

Laboratories in the Czech Republic performed 10,715 tests for the new coronavirus on Sunday. 31.4 percent of the first tested samples were positive, the most since November 7.
