1 dead after van collides with truck near Herink

Traffic on the Prague ring road on the D1 motorway was suspended for about three hours this afternoon due to a serious traffic accident. The driver of a van that crashed into a truck died in the accident.

The accident happened shortly before 15:00 near Herink. According to police, the van’s driver, for unknown reasons, came across a light arrow attached behind a road truck. “Due to the traffic accident investigation, the operation of vehicles in the place is limited,” Prague police officers said on Twitter.

According to Petra Effenbergerová, a spokeswoman for the Central Bohemian rescue service, one person died in the accident.

The motorway in the direction of Modletice had to be closed for more than three hours. The Central Bohemian firefighters recovered the body of the dead driver from the wreckage. According to the National Traffic Information Center, traffic on the Prague ring road towards the D1 motorway was resumed in one lane around 6.30 pm.
