Police charge man who threatened Babis

The police have charged a man who attempted to blackmail Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and repeatedly threatened to kill his wife and children. The news was confirmed by the Prague State Attorney’s Office on Friday.

The man, who reportedly lives in Spain and was turned over on an Interpol arrest warrant, has been remanded in custody. If convicted he would face between two and eight years in prison.

The prime minister said in February that he was receiving death threats and his family had been placed under police protection.
