Global tally of COVID-19 cases tops 125.6 million
The number of global covid-19 cases has surpassed 125.5 million. More than 2.75 million people have died from the covid-19 disease caused by the virus. That’s according to data from the American Johns Hopkins University (JHU).
JHU now has 125.49 million confirmed coronavirus infections worldwide, the largest of which (over 30 million) is in the United States. The second-highest number was recorded by Brazil, which records 12.3 million infections, and the third is India, with 11.8 million cases detected so far.
The USA leads the world in the number of covid-19 deaths with about 547,000 deaths, followed by Brazil with almost 303,500 and the third is Mexico with more than 200,000 deaths.
To date, 1.5 million coronavirus infections have been confirmed in the Czech Republic, and 25,600 people have died from the disease.
