Czech Republic reports 5,854 new coronavirus cases - Czech Points

The total number of confirmed cases of covid-19 since the beginning of the epidemic has exceeded 500,000 in the Czech Republic. On Tuesday, there were 5,854 positive tests, which is about 1,600 more than last Tuesday. Compared to Monday, the daily increase is higher by about 1,500 cases. The disease currently affects 78,203 people, who died with a covid is 7,499. The anti-epidemic system PES score remained at 57 points today, so the third day is in the third of five levels of alert. However, according to the Ministry of Health, two of the four parameters from which it is calculated are deteriorating.

Since March, when the disease began to spread in the Czech Republic, coronavirus tests have shown 502,534 cases, over 80 percent of those who have tested positive have already been cured, and most have had a mild course of the disease.

5,497 people with covid were treated in hospitals on Monday, which is over six percent of those currently infected and 200 more than the day before. 826 were hospitalized in serious condition, two less than on Sunday. Data for Tuesday will be published by the Ministry of Health this evening and the number of tests on Tuesday. In recent weeks, the number of hospitalized has been gradually declining. In early November, when the second wave peaked, more than 8,200 infected people required hospital care, and about 1,200 had a severe course of the disease. Hospitals can now resume planned non-acute surgeries that have had to be postponed in recent weeks due to the growing number of coronavirus patients.

16 deaths have been added to the statistics since Tuesday evening; the total number of victims has increased to 7,499. So far, the ministry has registered 59 deaths. Most people with covid died on November 3,257. Recently, the number of victims in one day has been between 100 and 200.

The spread of the disease has been weakening in recent weeks. Even at the turn of October and November, the daily increases of infected people rose to 15,000. Last week the growth only exceeded 6,000. The PES system assesses the development of the epidemic.

The PES score calculation is based on the value of the reproduction number, the average number of others infected from one positive test, the share of positives from all daily tests in the last seven days, and the number of infected per 100,000 in the general and senior population. A declining or increasing trend also plays a role. According to the score on a scale of 0 to 100, with 100 being the worst, the country is ranked in one of five levels, to which the measures are linked.
