Czech Republic reports 4,002 new COVID-19 cases - Czech Points

On Sunday, laboratories in the Czech Republic discovered 4,002 new coronavirus cases, which is about 1,100 cases more than a week ago. The share of newly infected in the number of tests performed rose to 40.6 percent. The last time was higher on January 9. About 6,000 people in hospital care at the weekend with covid-19, the number of people in a severe condition decreases only slightly, on Sunday it was 1,263. The reproductive number dropped to 1.16 after six days of growth. The PES score is currently at 75 points. This follows from data on the website of the Ministry of Health.

Since the beginning of the epidemic last March, coronavirus infection in the Czech Republic has been detected in approximately 1.157 million people, with cured patients exceeding 1.017 million. The number of active cases continues to grow, with more than 120,000 people currently facing the disease, the most since last October. The ministry registers the deaths with covid-19 at 19,330.

In the past week, laboratories have shown positivity in more than 66,400 people. In a week-on-week comparison, there were 13,000 more cases. Although the epidemic is growing in the country, according to the Minister of Health Jan Blatný, Czechia is not in a situation where it had to take draconian measures. According to him, it would have to be accepted if hospitals find themselves in a situation where they will have to stop all other than intensive care. According to him, hospitals still have some, albeit minimal, capacity.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, 14 percent of beds are available in ARO, intensive care units (ICUs), and 157 beds are available for patients with covid. There are about 730 standard beds with oxygen single for those infected. Other free capacities are still available on so-called reprofiled beds, otherwise intended to provide care of a different type of expertise.

According to current statistics from the ministry, there were 6049 people with covid in hospitals on Sunday, almost 100 more than on Saturday. On the weekdays of last week, the number of hospitalized ranged from about 6,300 to 6,450. There were 1,263 patients in serious condition on Sunday, about ten less than on Saturday. On Thursday, their number was a record for the entire epidemic, rising to 1288.

The worst situation is still in the Tachov region, where in the past seven days, they recorded 1,349 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants—followed by a closed Sokolovsko with 1222 cases. The Karlovy Vary district still has over 1,000 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last week. In the closed Cheb and Trutnov regions, the number has dropped below 1000 in recent days.

A new coronavirus has been vaccinated in the Czech Republic since December 27. According to Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, Czechia has so far received 730,460 vaccines. He stated this on Sunday in a video published on social networks. By Sunday evening, medics had administered 545,381 doses of the vaccine, with 207,552 people receiving both required doses. On Sunday, 1904 doses of vaccines were given, about 400 less a week ago.

According to the Ministry of Health, almost 93 percent of the doses administered so far have been vaccinated by Pfizer / BioNTech. This is followed by a vaccine from Moderna with a share of 5.4 percent. AstraZeneca has been administered by the healthcare professional in 8,868 cases, representing 1.6 percent of all previous doses.
