Czech Republic reports 2,618 new COVID-19 cases - Czech Points

On Sunday, there were 2,618 new cases of coronavirus in the Czech Republic, at least this year. Compared to last Sunday, this is a decrease of about 1,700 cases. The number of people lying with covid-19 in hospitals fell by almost 150 to 6,330. The last number of people hospitalized was in early January. Another 111 deaths have been added to the statistics since Sunday, while 14,449 people have died in the Czech Republic with covid. This follows from the data of the Ministry of Health.

Since the beginning of the epidemic in March, laboratories in the Czech Republic have detected 891,852 infected people. More than 732,000 of them have already recovered from the disease. There are currently about 145,000 infected people in the country, most of them with a mild course. There are 1,081 people in difficult condition in the hospitals.

The epidemic has been slowing down in the Czech Republic in recent days. There were 56,229 infections in the past week. That’s significantly less than a week earlier, with labs recording 88,767 new cases.

The share of positive tests fell slightly to less than 30 percent on Sunday. Last week, it ranged from about 25 to 31 percent. It was a significant decrease compared to the previous week, when the share of positive tests climbed to almost 43 percent.

The daily number of deaths with covid-19 has mostly remained above 150 since the beginning of January. Last week, the highest number of deaths was on Tuesday, 167. There are 108 deaths on Saturday and 63 on Sunday. However, these figures usually increase with further updates.

Coronavirus is now the most affected Trutnov region, with 1,043 people infected per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days. Cheb region reports about 939 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. On the contrary, in several districts this figure is already below 300. Chomutovsko is relatively the best with 264 infected per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days.

The index of the anti-epidemic system PES remains at 70 points out of a hundred. On the fifth day, he stays in the fourth degree. Most parameters have improved since Sunday. The reproduction number showing how many people on average infect one tested positive, but increased from 0.68 to 0.71.
