Czech Republic reports 2,376 new COVID-19 cases

There were 2,376 new coronavirus cases in the Czech Republic on Sunday, the lowest daily increase since 13 December. Compared to last Sunday, this is a decrease of about 260 cases.

The number of people hospitalized with covid-19 fell by about 830 a week. 5,621 patients required hospital care this Sunday, 1,021 of whom were in severe condition. Another 84 deaths were added to the statistics. A total of 15,453 people died of coronavirus infection in the Czech Republic.

According to the Ministry of Health. According to the Ministry of Health, the PES anti-epidemic risk index remains at 69 points on the third day, holding 12 days in the fourth of the five risk levels. But the fifth degree is still valid in the country. The government is not planning to disintegrate.

Since the beginning of the epidemic in March, laboratories in the Czech Republic have detected over 940,000 infected. Almost 820,000 of them have already recovered from the disease. Currently, about 105,000 people are affected by the infection. Most of them have a mild course of the disease.

In recent days, the epidemic in the Czech Republic has been slowing down. In the past week, there has been an increase of about 48,000 infected. A week earlier, it was over 56,000, and before that, even almost 89,000 new cases per week.

Last week, the daily number of deaths with covid-19 also decreased slightly. While since the beginning of January, they have mostly been above 150, since Tuesday, their numbers have ranged from 54 to 146. So far, there are 94 deaths on Saturday and 54 on Sunday. However, with further updates, these data usually increase.

There are now about the same number of people in hospitals with covid-19 at the beginning of the year. This year, the most hospitalized on 7 January was almost 7,500. Minister of Health Jan Blatný said that to relax anti-epidemic measures.

The share of positive tests fell to 28.2 percent on Sunday. It ranged from about 25 to 31 percent throughout the past week.

The most affected region is still the Trutnov region, where in the last seven days, they recorded 1123 infected per 100,000 inhabitants. Cheb follows it with 1069 cases. On the contrary, the Chomutov region is relatively the best, were in the past week, there were 198 cases of coronavirus per 100,000 inhabitants.

On Sunday, paramedics administered a total of 2,444 doses of covid vaccine, significantly less than on weekdays. However, the same development was in previous weeks. Since the beginning of vaccination, 196,304 vaccinations have been carried out in the Czech Republic.
