Czech Republic reports 1,532 new COVID-19 cases - Czech Points

In the Czech Republic, there were 1,532 new cases of coronavirus on Monday, 685 less than a week ago. The number of administered doses of covid-19 vaccines has risen by almost 4,000 compared to last Monday, and medics have vaccinated 73,998 people. This follows from information on the website of the Ministry of Health. The number of people infected per 100,000 population has dropped to 95 from the previous 101 in the last seven days.

Since the end of last December, when vaccination against coronavirus in the Czech Republic began , they have administered 3,731,232 doses of the vaccine on Monday evening. More than 1.065 million people, or about a tenth, have completed vaccinations. Last week, over 70,000 people were vaccinated daily on weekdays, the number was a record on Thursday, and 86,781 people received the vaccine. From today, covid-19 can be vaccinated through the Department of Health websitereport all people over the age of 45, over 41,600 of them registered in the first eight hours. Vaccination registration will open next week for people aged 40 to 44. Then it will probably be for everyone over the age of 16, said Minister of Health Petr Arenberger on Monday after the government meeting.

Since last March, the disease has been confirmed in almost 1.647 million people, most of whom have recovered, and 29,749 patients with confirmed disease have died. Recently, the daily death toll has been lower, and since April 10, no more than 100 people with covid have died in a single day. On average, there were 84 deaths per day in April, compared with 194 deaths per day in March. For May, the daily average is 32 so far. Over the weekend, the ministry recorded 29 deaths on Saturday and 27 on Sunday, while Monday there are 16 deaths with a confirmed infection. With additional updates, the data from the last days will usually increase even more.

There were 1,884 patients with confirmed infection in the hospitals on Monday, about 60 more than the previous day, but in the week-on-week comparison their number dropped by about 830. There are 349 patients in a severe condition, at least since the beginning of last October. However, the burden on hospitals is actually much higher, because the statistics do not include patients who are already covid negative, but still require hospital care. According to the ministry, about 6,500 standard oxygen beds were available this morning, representing 28 percent of the total. The bed with artificial lung ventilation is unoccupied approximately 650, also 28 percent.

In addition to the previous week, the number of coronavirus tests dropped on Monday compared to the previous week, with more than 246,000 laboratories performing them, and last Monday it was over 316,000. The number of antigen tests was lower, falling from almost 297,000 to about 225,000, while PCR tests were about a thousand more this Monday. The proportion of positives in preventive tests, which make up the majority of the total number, was 0.09 percent. In the so-called epidemiological indication, where people are tested, for example, for possible contact with the infected, the proportion of positives decreased to 2.43 percent, and in the diagnostic indication, when people with symptoms, for example, are tested, it decreased to 5.54 percent.

The reproduction number indicating how many other people on average infect one positive test has fallen slightly today from the previous 0.82 to 0.81. It has been below the break-even value of one, which means a slowdown in the epidemic, since mid-April.

The daily increases in the number of coronavirus infections have been gradually declining since the beginning of March, when they rose to almost 17,000. Over the past week, tests have revealed more than 10,800 infected, a week earlier it was almost 14,400 and before about 17,500. Coronavirus measures are gradually being relaxed in the country. Among other things, the government takes the number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days as a key figure. The government relaxes the restrictions on the basis of six packages. For example, they announce the opening of all closed services if the number of people infected per 100,000 inhabitants is below 100 or the opening of outdoor restaurant facilities until the number of people infected with coronavirus falls below 75 per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days. All the shops and most of the services that were still closed due to the coronavirus epidemic opened on Monday, and the restaurant gardens plan to open the cabinet from next Monday.
