According to revised data from the Ministry of Health in the Czech Republic, almost 9,000 hospitalized with covid-19 and 1873 were in severe condition, which were the highest numbers for the entire epidemic. On Tuesday, the number of patients decreased slightly compared to Monday. According to today’s data, 8618 were hospitalized on the ministry’s website, of which 1853 were in serious condition. Initially, the ministry listed 8478 hospitalized people on Monday and less than 1800 people in serious condition.

At the end of January, about 5,500 were hospitalized. During February, the number of patients jumped and exceeded 8,000 at the beginning of March. On Monday, 8 March, 8969 were hospitalized. The number of occupied hospital beds is thus higher. Today morning it was all over the country, like in previous days, according to the Ministry of loose only 13 percent of beds in intensive care units (ICU) and Anesthesiology and Resuscitation (ARO) and 24 percent standard beds with oxygen.

On Tuesday, there were 15,196 confirmed cases of covid-19 in the Czech Republic, which is about 1,600 less than the previous Tuesday. The increase in the number of infected has been slowing down compared to the same days of the last week since Sunday. On the contrary, the daily number of tests performed is growing significantly. On Monday, for example, the most antigenic tests were performed per day since the outbreak, nearly 113,000. On Tuesday, there were over 95,000 coronavirus antigen tests and about 28,000 PCR tests. Last week on Tuesday, there were about 66,000 antigen tests and over 44,000 PCR tests. Last week, the mandatory comprehensive testing in companies began on Wednesday, and from today, the obligation also applies to the authorities.

The Ministry no longer publishes the total share of positive tests. In preventive and comprehensive testing, which accounted for three-quarters of all tests on Tuesday, the share was positive 1.8 percent. Last Tuesday, the proportion of those infected in the number of preventive tests was 3.4 percent.
