There are currently 32,723 patients, about 1,500 more than the total number of people who have recovered from Covid-19.

Sunday is usually one of the days of the week when the number of new cases is low due to the lower number of tests performed. But the increase for this Sunday is one of the highest weekend additions ever. There was also a significant increase on Saturday, 26 September, when 1983 cases of the disease were confirmed, which was the second most significant increase on the weekend since 1 March.

The disease is milder in most people. Recently, however, the number of hospitalized and deceased in the Czech Republic has increased significantly.

According to the Minister of Health Roman Prymula, some beds for acute patients are occupied by people who do not need critical care. “We are hospitalizing a lot of social patients here, who should be in completely different facilities, not in acute inpatient care facilities. And if we somehow quantify it at COVID now, that’s a full 40 percent of patients,” he said on Sunday on TV Prima.

The number of deaths of people infected with coronavirus has already reached 606 since the beginning of the Czech Republic epidemic. There were 14 more deaths on Saturday and another seven on Sunday. So far this week, more than eighty infected people have died.
