Czech Republic reports 12,486 new COVID-19 cases - Czech Points

On Tuesday, there were 12,486 new cases of covid-19 in the Czech Republic. It was the highest daily increase since January 8. Since the beginning of the epidemic, more than 1.1 million people in the Czech Republic have been demonstrably infected. This follows from current data on the website of the Ministry of Health. The number of patients with severe covid approached the maximum from the beginning of last November. The PES score is 72 points. The reproduction number rose to 1.08.

Nearly nine out of ten people whose tests have confirmed infection with the new coronavirus since last March have already recovered. On the contrary, 18,596 people died of the disease. There are currently about 106,000 patients with covid in the Czech Republic.

Medical facilities are facing great pressure in connection with the coronavirus epidemic. There were 6,171 patients with covid in the hospitals on Tuesday. One thousand one hundred ninety-six of them were in a problematic state, which is the second-highest value since the outbreak. More patients in severe condition were only on November 3, 1,200 were hospitalized.

According to current data from the Ministry of Health, there are 165 vacancies left in the ICU and ARO units for people with covid, about 20 less than on Tuesday morning. Other free capacities are still on the so-called reprofiled beds, which were initially intended to provide care of another type of expertise.

Laboratories in the Czech Republic performed over 70,000 tests for the new coronavirus on Tuesday. Almost 38 percent of the samples recorded a positive result.

The spread of the coronavirus epidemic in the Czech Republic is still not slowing down, even though it looked like that in mid-January. At the end of the first month of this year, however, the daily number of new cases in the week-on-week comparison began to rise again. Since the beginning of February, there are only two days in the statistics when fewer new cases were added than on the previous week’s same day.

The worst epidemic situation remains in the Trutnov region, where in the past seven days, there are 1,065 newly infected people per 100,000 inhabitants. Sokolovsko follows it with 972 cases and Tachovsko with 953 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last week.

A new coronavirus has been vaccinated in the Czech Republic since December 27. To date, medics have administered 483,833 doses of the vaccine, including 15,000 on Tuesday. So far, 182,000 people have received both required benefits.

Pfizer / BioNTech has vaccinated almost 95 percent of the doses administered so far. This is followed by a vaccine from Moderna with a share of 4.6 percent. So far, the AstraZeneca vaccine has been administered by healthcare professionals in 2,777 cases, representing 0.6 percent of all previous doses.
