Czech customs seize CZK 11 million of counterfeit Apple products
At the end of October, customs officers seized approximately 4,000 counterfeit Apple products from a multinational retailer worth more than 11 million crowns. These were accessories for mobile phones – wireless headphones, headphones with a connector, charging and data cables, and other goods.
The next steps depend on the trademark owner. In case of confirmation of a suspected infringement of intellectual property rights, the goods’ liquidation usually follows.
“Members of the Olomouc and Central Bohemian customs offices were involved in the inspection. In agreement with the retail chain, customs officers managed to block the sale of goods of interest and ensure their withdrawal,” a spokesperson said.
The spokeswoman added that customs officials followed all hygiene measures connected with the coronavirus epidemic during the seizure. They were equipped with personal protective equipment, especially disposable gloves and FFP2 class respirators.
