Zeman Silences Critics – Blocks Milan Stech (CSSD) From Attending Castle Ceremony

Stressed personal relations between the two highest constitutional actors, namely the President of the Republic and the President of the Senate, also marked Wednesday’s appointment of the Babiš Government at the Castle. At the ceremony in the Throne Hall was missing Milan Štěch (CSSD), whom Miloš Zeman did not invite.

“I did not receive the invitation,” he said, “I have not been invited a few times lately.” He did not want to express himself any more, only admitting that the president recently met with the presidential celebration on 28 October.

“We had different views with the president on some of the events that celebrated the public holiday. I do not know if this is a consequence. I just was not invited and I do not want to continue doing it, “said Stech.

The spokesperson, Jiří Ovčáček, on the question “The reason why the second highest constitutional official was not invited,” he replied laconically: “The reason is very simple and simple: the government will ask for confidence in the Chamber of Deputies .” Her chairman, Radek Vondráček ( ANO ), was present.

After the ceremony, the Office of the Government sent an official press release to the editorial office, in which it mistakenly stated that the members of the government had made a promise with Vondráček and Štěch. When appointing the Civic Government of Russia, Mr. Rusnok in 2014, Zeman invited the Senate representative. The then deputy chairwoman Alena Gajduskova ( CSSD ) was present, as well as the chairwoman of the Chamber of Deputies Miroslava Němcová ( ODS ).

Representatives of both Chambers participated in the same appointment ceremony in the same year at the inauguration of the coalition government of Bohuslav Sobotka . In the Throne Hall of the Castle, both the chairman of the lower house, Jan Hamacek (CSSD), and the head of the upper chamber of Štěch were present .

Such a scenario is confirmed by the former spokesman, Ladislav Špaček, an expert on the label. “The top constitutional constituents should not miss such an important constitutional act,” he said. According to him, it would be a bigger problem if the president did not invite the President of the House, which the government is responsible for, but the absence of an invitation from the other man in the state can suggest anything.

It is precisely Štěch that he indirectly paid for his criticism by not inviting him to a joint luncheon of constitutional officials last week on the occasion of the official visit of Hungarian President Janos Áder to the Czech Republic. In Zeman, he made his public debut in the demo-Sunday demise of Bohuslav Sobotka at the Castle this May.

“When I woke up with the wand, I remembered my youth when I met the old masters who lived at another time. And they also occasionally chewed their wand, giving them various instructions. I think they were people who were already senile masters, and that it was not all right with them. I’m not saying this is the case of the current president, but I say it looked like that, “said Stech in a conversation after the scenes at the Castle.

He also criticized Zeman for shortening the ceremony at Vítkov in Prague, with the traditions to be observed. “I say things as I see and feel. I am a politician of the sovereign chamber, so if I do not like something, I will say, “he explained his attitude to Right Shot.
